How to Understand Our Human Emotions and Make them Work for Us

The greatest gift we have got from Creator as human beings is our emotions and ability to feel.

How we love it! - The moments of ecstasy, happiness and a great pain and suffering; love and heartbreaks; self-confidence and doubts; generosity and jealousy. We fight with our feelings, and sometimes think we won the battle, but most time they take over us and we feel overwhelmed with them.

How to live in a harmony with our feelings, how to befriend our emotions, to make them work for us but not against us? How to enjoy our feelings and not to give away our power to them?

My opinion is we don’t really understand ourselves why we react in a certain way to the outer world, because we live unconsciously. If the person is not emotionally mature then there is a little awareness in ones actions-realization of what you are doing in the particular moment and why you are doing that.

You can achieve a great harmony with yourself if you take a habit to be in the moment, try to understand yourself and accept yourself-all your shadows and light.

Look at little children-they are so alive, if they love –they love from the bottom of their hearts; if they hate you for a moment- they hate you; if they are hungry- they demand food; if they are sleepy-they can fall asleep right where they are. That’s exactly what we love about our kids- their natural ability to be themselves and to be open to love. Most time they are just happy, enjoy themselves so much and love everybody around unconditionally and sincerely.

How could we lose that ability to love and express ourselves in a loving way?

We grow up and learn to be someone else and do something else but what our heart desires. First, our parents in their loving attempts to make us “better” persons taught us to be “good”. Isn’t it scary when you “suddenly” feel anger, sadness, jealousy? “Oh, no, no, absolutely “no”- this is not me! I’m supposed to be loving, kind, happy. I’m supposed to be a good person, parent, wife, husband”. Why then that anger coming to the surface over and over? We feel helpless facing that “negativity”.

...and what we do is we deny our feelings, close ourselves trying to escape our shadows, judge ourselves- this is so painful to know that sometimes you are not that sunshine person.

Then, our society taught us to be tough, strong, and successful; nobody likes “losers”. We learnt not to show our “weak” side, feelings. We suppress love we were born with. We have forgotten how to love unconditionally.

No wonder...

How can you love somebody else if you don’t know how to love yourself?

How can you love yourself if deep inside, you believe that that “bad” person (nobody knows about) doesn’t deserve love?

...but truth is we are human beings with everything inside of us –negative and positive; shadows and light; pain and love.

Our wholeness is everything- our ego and love, mind, body, emotions any kind. Every part is doing its own job; our part of its job is not making them enemy but to experience them, acknowledge, use them and learn to love every part of ourselves.

The paradox of our human existence is to be perfect and imperfect simultaneously. This is a beauty of life- to be perfect in the whole of all shapes, sizes, colors and differences. Our planet Earth is living example of the perfection in imperfections-beautiful, wild and harmonic.

We can learn to express ourselves in a healthy way. You don’t need to throw your anger, sadness into the face of people around. But if you repress them in the first place, hide them underground - they will go deeper inside you, your body. If you do it over and over – you create a bomb inside of you- sooner or later it will explode; your hidden pain will show up in an ugly way.

There is a Russian saying-“Devil lives in still muddy waters”, or in English-“Still water run deep”. Let’s learn to keep our energy in a good flow managing our emotions in a healthy way.
